Marmorino, which dates back to Roman times, is a plaster made from lime putty and ground marble and predominantly applied on interior walls and ceilings.
The finished results provide a truly stunning look that is similar to polished marble or limestone and can be applied to create a wide range of satin, matt and glossy effects.
Easy to apply, Marmorino transforms into a rock-like substance once dried, making it highly-durable.
Marmorino is environmentally friendly as it allows the walls to breathe and therefore is naturally resistant to mould.
Adding coloured pigment, a wide variety of colours can be created achieving both subtle or vibrant tones.
Marmorino can be used to create stunning surfaces with decorative, polished or marble-like finishes. It is not limited to just being used on walls, it can also be used on other surfaces such as wooden panels and plasterboard, after the appropriate preparation has taken place.
When applied, Venetian Plaster dries to a durable finish and is less prone to cracking and shrinking giving a beautiful, decorative surface that can last many years.
Marmorino requires little maintenance. Cleaning simply requires using a soft cloth with warm water and perhaps mild soap if needed. The surface can be re-waxed to restore the original shine.
Since Marmorino is made of non-toxic materials, it does not release harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs) making it environment friendly.
The appeal of Marmorino is that it allows walls to breathe making it suitable for locations with high humidity. The plaster acts as a defence against bacteria and fungus formation on the wall and therefore fights mould and inhibiting its growth.
